Every student in the College
has the opportunity to take Computer Studies and become computer
literate. With the College's Computer Laboratory having twenty-two
networked computer systems, students' skills improve rapidly
as there is hands-on experience at every lesson. additionally,
the College's NEPA power supply is backed up with a 10kVA
generator so that lessons still continue even if there is
interruption to the mains electricity supply.
With the computers networked, it is possible for the
teacher to demonstrate from the 'master' server computer system
to the class sitting at the twenty-one student computer systems.
Students can then use the network to download the appropriate
practical exercises from the server.
The College course teaches several software packages including:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Access Database
- Corel Draw
- Principles of internet & email
Additionally, the students also learn about basic computer
hardware.
