Visual Art

Every student in the JSS classes takes Visual Arts as a subject. College students particularly enjoy the practical aspects of Visual Arts, and an equipped studio contributes in no small way to this enjoyment. Further, each student is being encouraged to develop his or her folio of work over the years in the College and to this end each Visual Arts student has been assigned a folder. This will enable the student to see how skills and maturity in expression have been developed in each successive school year.

The course taken by the junior students covers the following aspects:

  • Drawing
  • Painting
  • Pattern & design
  • Three-dimensional work
  • Crafts
  • Art appreciation

A significant number of students also choose to study Visual Arts at senior level. The course offered at the College lays special emphasis on Nigerian Art, and additionally includes a section on the possibilities for careers in Art.

Several themes are examined including:

  • Two-dimentional Art
  • Three-dimentional Art
  • Art history and appreciation
  • Crafts
  • Applied design
