All of the College students
take Home Economics as a subject at JSS level. Their course
is designed to help them develop their knowledge and skills
in several areas including:
- Foods & nutrition
- Child development
- Family living
- Home management
- Clothing, fashion & grooming.
Additionally, the students are encouraged to have positive
attitudes to healthy living and to develop good lifestyle
habits.
At
senior level in the SS classes, students can opt to study
Foods and Nutrition at the College. With a well-equipped laboratory,
this subject is gaining in popularity as the students see
the opportunities to learn important life skills. The students
recognise of course, that these will help them be self-reliant
and will also improve the quality of their family living.
The Foods and Nutrition course at the College has five central
themes:
- Nutrition and health
- Kitchen management
- Food preparation, storage and preservation
- Entertainment
- Consumer education
