Agricultural Science

Agricultural Science has captured the interest of many College students and this is due in no small part to the 'guided discovery' method of teaching which is being used. Students thus find the subject lively and practical as well as enjoying the prospect of producing their own food and other agricultural products themselves.

The Agricultural Science course adopted in the College seeks to:

  • Stimulate students' interest in Agriculture.
  • Enable students to acquire basic knowledge and skills in Agriculture and to integrate these.
  • Expose students to opportunities in the field of Agriculture including potential employment possibilities.

The College course works on achieving these aims by structuring the curriculum around the concepts of production, protection and economics. In learning about these major concepts, the students examine a number of topics including:

  • Basic concepts
  • Crop production
  • Animal production
  • Agricultural ecology & systems
  • Agricultural engineering
  • Agricultural economics & extension

With a programme that is so geared to showing the students the practical applications of their studies, it is easy to see why Agricultural Science is such a popular subject.
